Library Levy Information

Going home from the libraryThe issue on the November 4 ballot is a 6-year, 0.8 mill renewal of the library levy approved in 2010. Renewal = Not a new tax.

  • The levy accounts for 42% of library revenues. Passage will allow the library to maintain open hours, preserve the budget for new books, and maintain in-demand services.
  • State funding remains down 31%.  2014 state funding is at 1996 levels.
  • Cost to the owner of a $100,000 home will remain $24.50 per year, about the cost of one hardcover book or two large pizzas per year.

Fall 2014

You are probably asking yourself, as am I, Where did the summer go?

I am sure the flurry of activity at the library contributed to the speed with which the season whizzed by. Both Youth and Adult Summer Reading Programs in Bowling Green and Walbridge broke previous years’ records for participants. Over 1,500 kids participated and attended numerous Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs at the both locations.
