The issue on the November 4 ballot is a 6-year, 0.8 mill renewal of the library levy approved in 2010. Renewal = Not a new tax.
- The levy accounts for 42% of library revenues. Passage will allow the library to maintain open hours, preserve the budget for new books, and maintain in-demand services.
- State funding remains down 31%. 2014 state funding is at 1996 levels.
- Cost to the owner of a $100,000 home will remain $24.50 per year, about the cost of one hardcover book or two large pizzas per year.
